Bombardier Demonstrates Strong Commitment To Asia-Pacific Market At Singapore Airshow 2008

Underlining the importance of the Asia-Pacific marketplace, Bombardier Aerospace will attend the Singapore Airshow 2008. Held from February 19 to February 24, at the brand-new, state-of-the-art Changi Exhibition Centre, more than 30,000 trade visitors from 42 countries are expected to attend this biannual event.

As the Asia-Pacific region continues to show rapid growth in both the commercial and business aviation sectors, Bombardier Aerospace is well positioned to offer the right solutions to meet the needs of airlines and corporate travelers throughout the region.

“Bombardier’s strong commitment to Asia-Pacific and the Indian sub-continent is evident through our ongoing investments in the region,” noted David Dixon, Regional Vice-president, Sales, Asia-Pacific and India, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “With sales offices in Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong and Mumbai, and five Field Service Representatives currently based in the region, Bombardier is ensuring customers in this exciting market have access to our complete range of innovative business jets, as well as the support they need to keep their aircraft flying.”

Bombardier’s comprehensive family of business jets is the largest of any Original Equipment manufacturer (OEM). Bombardier Business Aircraft continues to lead the Asia-Pacific market including the Indian sub-continent in both the large and ultra long-range aircraft segments with approximately 68 per cent and 58 per cent of the installed base respectively*. With an installed base of over 100 business jets, Bombardier Business Aircraft sees a promising future for the region.

Bombardier’s premier business jet charter program, Skyjet International, will also be represented. With access to over 930 business jets worldwide, a rapidly growing international network and a range of innovative turnkey travel solutions, Skyjet International continues to forge new paths for business jet charter in the Asia-Pacific region.

As a leading supplier of aircraft to regional airlines in the Asia-Pacific region, Bombardier is well positioned to support the region’s domestic regional aviation network. There are currently 191 Dash 8/Q-Series turboprops and 62 CRJ regional jets in service or ordered by 39 operators in 13 countries in the region. When the in-service fleet of jets and turboprops are combined, Bombardier is a dominant player in the region with 53 per cent of all regional aircraft.

“The CRJ and Q-Series aircraft provide outstanding dispatch reliability, passenger appeal and operating economics, said James Dailly, Senior Vice-president, Sales, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. The CRJ1000 NextGen regional jet, which is scheduled to enter service in 2009, is being designed to have these same qualities, he added.”

As our mission to support customers, Bombardier has spare parts depots located in Singapore, Beijing (China), Sydney (Australia), and Narita (Japan). Taikoo (Shandong Aircraft Engineering Ltd. (STAECO) of Ji’nan (China), Hawker Pacific Pty. Ltd. of Bankstown (Australia), Jet Aviation Asia-Pacific (Singapore), Jamco (Japan), Execujet (Australia and Dubai), Air Works (India), and Metrojet Limited (Hong-Kong) are part of Bombardier’s authorized service facilities in the region. In 2007, Bombardier opened a Bombardier Regional aircraft support office at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

As the market in the Asia-Pacific region and China continues to grow, our proposed Bombardier CSeries jetliner, should it be launched, will be ideally positioned to meet the needs of our customers, open new market opportunities and replace many of the aging narrow-body aircraft presently in service in the region. Designed specifically for the lower end of the 100- to 149-seat commercial market, the CSeries will have the most spacious cabin in its class, providing a wide body experience in a single aisle aircraft. A launch decision is expected in calendar 2008.

In June 2007, the China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC I) and Bombardier announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a long-term strategic cooperation in the five-abreast, 90- to 149-seat commercial aircraft market. This alliance marked a further extension of a well-established history between Bombardier Aerospace and AVIC I, which includes the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) that supplies components for the Q-Series turboprops.

The Singapore Airshow, Asia’s largest aerospace and defence event, will take place at the new Changi Exhibition Centre. The Bombardier chalet will be located at CD-65.

Three of Bombardier’s high-performance business jets will be displayed at the show: the Global Express XRS, the Challenger 605, and the new Learjet 60 XR aircraft, which makes its regional debut in Singapore.

Learjet 60 XR : In service since July 2007, the Learjet 60 XR is poised to set new standards in performance, comfort, value and versatility in the worldwide midsize jet market. The aircraft’s higher operating altitudes – certified to 51,000 ft (15,545 m) – translate to time savings due to better winds, less traffic and less turbulence. With a high cruise speed of Mach 0.81 (863 km/h), the Learjet 60 XR jet is one of the fastest aircraft in its category. The aircraft can fly Singapore-Mumbai non-stop and delivers superior climb capabilities, with proven fuel-efficiency and low direct operating costs per nautical mile*.

Challenger 605 : In service since January 2007, the Challenger 605 jet features the widest stand-up cabin of any large category business jet available today. It is equipped with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite and an all-new cabin electronic system. It can whisk eight-passengers from Singapore-Sydney non-stop*. Optional equipment on the Challenger 605 now includes the Bombardier Enhanced Vision System (BEVS), providing pilots with significantly improved situational awareness and the ability to observe runway lights and the runway environment in difficult operating conditions, such as low visibility and or darkness.

Global Express XRS : The pioneering Global Express XRS business jet features the largest cabin of any purpose-built corporate aircraft – offering more cabin volume and more floor space than its closest competitor. No other business jet in the ultra long-range segment matches the high-speed range capability delivered by this aircraft. Offering the ultimate in cabin comfort, this impressive jet can link Singapore-Rome non-stop with eight passengers and three-to-four crew*. The Global Express XRS jet now features the Global Vision flight deck. The new Pro Line Fusion avionics suite is paired with superior design aesthetics from world-renowned design consultancy firm Design Q, to create the ultimate flight control environment, providing Global aircraft pilots with an unprecedented level of situational awareness and comfort.
