Bombardier Flexjet, the fractional ownership program of Bombardier Aerospace, announced that for the seventh consecutive year it has earned the prestigious FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Employer Diamond Award, the agency's highest award for excellence in aviation maintenance training.
The awards program was established by the FAA to encourage aviation companies and aviation maintenance technicians to continuously pursue the highest standards of maintenance training. To that end, the FAA issues the annual awards - to technicians and their employers - in recognition of outstanding achievement.
Employees receive FAA Aviation Maintenance Training (AMT) awards based on their number of maintenance training hours achieved each calendar year. In turn, employer awards are based on the percentage of employees who earn FAA Aviation Maintenance Training awards. To qualify for an Employer Diamond Award, at least 25 per cent of an employer's technicians must have received an award that year. In the past calendar year, 68 percent of all Flexjet maintenance technicians earned an FAA Aviation Maintenance Training award.
"We are delighted that Flexjet's leadership in maintenance training continues to be singled out by the FAA as outstanding, for the seventh year in a row," said Michael McQuay, President of Bombardier Aircraft Services.
"This record is unmatched by any other fractional program and serves as yet another example of our commitment to providing world-class technical support for our owners' aircraft," he noted.
In addition, Mr. McQuay pointed out that Flexjet is the only fractional ownership program currently certified to AS9100, the equivalent in the aerospace industry to ISO 9000, the international standard for quality in business management. While Flexjet originally received this certification for its maintenance and technical operations, the entire organization has now been designated with this honor, which is yet another unique achievement in the fractional segment.
Established in 1995 and based in Dallas, Texas, Bombardier Flexjet offers a turnkey program allowing individuals or companies to purchase a share in a Bombardier business jet at a fraction of the full ownership cost. Flexjet owners select the most appropriate aircraft type for their needs, determine the number of hours per year they fly, and purchase shares of the Bombardier business jets starting at a share size of 1/16th (equal to 50 hours flying per year). Flexjet guarantees 24-hour access to its fleet with as little as six hours notice and can fly into 10 times the number of airports available to commercial flights, for maximum travel flexibility. Owners pay predictable monthly management and usage fees, while Bombardier Flexjet manages aircraft maintenance, flight crews, hangars, fuel and insurance on their behalf. Flexjet is the only fractional provider that fields an exclusive family of Bombardier business jets, including the Learjet 40 XR, Learjet 45 XR, Learjet 60, Challenger 300 and Challenger 604.
