Bombardier Transportation is the 2008 Company of the Year in the global rail market according to Frost & Sullivan, world leader in growth consulting. Frost and Sullivan presented the award to Bombardier at its annual ceremony in London on November 20. The consultant selected Bombardier for demonstrating unparalleled excellence within its industry, outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development.
In selecting the award recipient, Frost & Sullivan analysts quantified several market factors for each market participant according to predetermined criteria, paying close attention to their combined operations efforts. The companies’ efforts were then analyzed and ranked enabling the analysts to identify the company that received the number one industry rank.
“Bombardier has acquired global leadership within the rail market, repeatedly exceeding a market share of 20 per cent,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst, Patrick Rehlein during remarks at the ceremony. “Design, development and manufacturing of rolling stock portfolio at competitive rates have underpinned the company’s corporate success. What is even more impressive is Bombardier’s commitment to sustainable mass transportation, which was highlighted through a series of BOMBARDIER ECO4 innovations presented at the recent InnoTrans fair in Berlin, some of which are first-in-industry,” he added.
With energy consumption and efficiency being the priorities of the industry, the ECO4 portfolio can help train operators enhance the reliability and performance of their fleets, while at the same time reduce both their carbon footprint and energy costs. By focusing on innovation in technology, design and sustainability, the company is showing its commitment to superior solutions, improved safety, efficiency and environmental performance for its customers.
“We are delighted to receive the 2008 Award for Company of the Year in the global rail market”, said André Navarri, President of Bombardier Transportation. “There has never been a better time to be in the rail industry. Bombardier is playing a key role in shaping sustainable mobility for the 21st century and is also helping improve rail’s advantage over other transportation means by responding to the big challenges faced by rail operators around the world today,” he added.
“Ingenuity and finding solutions to today’s challenges are at the core of this company’s philosophy. The benefits for customers are honored with a strong brand reputation and trust in Bombardier’s products and services all around the world. Frost & Sullivan thus presents the 2008 Award for Company of the Year to Bombardier Transportation for its remarkable influence on the global rail market”, concluded Rehlein.
