Northern Jet Takes Delivery Of Second Bombardier Learjet 40 XR Jet

  • Six Learjet aircraft ordered in the past 12 months

Bombardier Aerospace today announced that Northern Jet Management of Grand Rapids, MI., an aircraft management and shared ownership company, has taken delivery of its second light Learjet 40 XR business jet, one of six Learjet aircraft ordered by the company in the past 12 months.

The multiple aircraft order of five Learjet 40 XR and one Learjet 45 XR aircraft is part of Northern Jet’s shared ownership program, The Company Jet, which will soon feature the Learjet 40 XR aircraft. The new fleet will be based at Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids.

“The speed and range of the Learjet 40 XR jet, coupled with the most spacious and comfortable cabin in the light jet segment, are exceptional pillars on which to build and grow our innovative shared ownership program,” said Charles R. (Chuck) Cox, president, Northern Jet Management. “Business travelers are increasingly seeking out private air travel options, and we are confident that the legendary performance, speed and prestige that are synonymous with the Learjet brand will have tremendous appeal for our customers while giving our business a competitive edge.”

Northern Jets’ association with Learjet dates back to the early 1960’s, when Northern Air, its sister company, purchased a new Learjet aircraft.

“We thank Northern Jet for the confidence they have shown in Bombardier products and for selecting our high-performance Learjet 40 XR aircraft as an offering in their new shared ownership program,” said Ed Thomas, regional vice-president, Learjet Sales, United States, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “We look forward to working closely with the entire Northern Jet team.”

Since acquiring Learjet in 1990, Bombardier has carried forward the brand’s proud legacy by launching eight high-performance and fuel-efficient Learjet aircraft.

Learjet 40 XR
The six-to-seven passenger Learjet 40 XR aircraft features the widest and most spacious cabin in its class and a full aft lavatory. This premium light jet delivers impressive time-to-climb performance under all conditions – particularly in hot and high operating environments – requiring only 23 minutes to reach 43,000 feet (13,106 m). The Learjet 40 XR jet can connect Detroit-Phoenix non-stop*.

Learjet 45 XR
The eight-to-nine passenger Learjet 45 XR aircraft flies faster, farther, with more passengers than any other super light business jet. Its passenger cabin area is approximately 15 inches (38 cm) longer than that of its closest competitor, and it offers seated passengers more head and shoulder room. Delivering enhanced performance at high altitudes and in hot temperatures, the aircraft can fly Detroit-Guatemala City non-stop*.
