Bombardier Aerospace and Execujet Middle East mark start of construction of new aircraft service centre in Dubai

First turnkey transportation service solution for Middle East operators

Bombardier Aerospace and ExecuJet Middle East today participated in a ground-breaking ceremony to begin construction of a new service centre and spare parts depot for Bombardier business jets at Dubai International Airport.

“Operators based in the Middle East will, for the first time, benefit from a complete turnkey transportation service solution right here in the region,” said Mike Fahey, regional vice president, sales, Middle East and Africa, Business Aircraft. “This represents an important step forward for Bombardier and a key development for corporate aviation in general.”

With airport approval now in hand, the service centre is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2004. It will offer Bombardier operators a full range of business aviation services including aircraft repair and maintenance and aircraft charter and management.

“This joint venture is unique in that Bombardier, as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), and ExecuJet, as a service provider, will be the first to offer full representation and support in this region,” said Horm Irani, managing director, ExecuJet Middle East. “It continues the long history of successful collaboration that exists between Bombardier and ExecuJet in the Middle East and elsewhere.”

The 28,000-square-foot (2,600-sq-m) support facility will feature two maintenance bays capable of accommodating two Bombardier Global Express* ultra long-range business jets and two Bombardier Challenger* aircraft at the same time. It will also house a spare parts depot that will be part of Bombardier’s worldwide spare parts network. The facility will support the full range of Bombardier business aircraft and provide full-time employment for more than 50 staff and specialists.

“This state-of-the-art facility will further strengthen our growing presence in Dubai, the capital for aviation in the Middle East, and benefit Bombardier customers throughout the region,” noted Mr. Fahey.
