Bombardier is proud to support the 7th edition of Montréal’s Robotics Festival
- Over 100 Bombardier volunteers will be on site to share their passion for science, technology and engineering with more than 3,000 young participants
For the 7th consecutive year, Bombardier and its employees are proud to contribute to the success of Montréal’s Robotics Festival. This three-day event organized by FIRST Robotics Québec and Youth Fusion aims to inspire young people to pursue further studies and careers in the field of science, technology and engineering.
As one of the founders of FIRST Robotics Québec and the main sponsor of the Festival, Bombardier will once again have a significant presence on site. Over 100 employees will give their time to share their passion for technology. Many of them have been volunteering for the organization for years, while others have been acting as mentors for the participants throughout the preparation phase of the competition and will be there to support their teams. At the Bombardier stand, visitors will also get to discover part of the C Series aircraft’s cockpit and rear fuselage, and learn everything about the steps necessary to take an aircraft from dream to reality.
This year, more than 3,000 participants aged 6 to 18 years old are registered for this unique competition bringing together teams from Québec and Ontario, as well as Brazil, France and the United States. With help from mentors and professional engineers, they experienced the excitement of working in teams to design, build and program a robot capable of performing complex tasks in limited time. They will then face off to earn a spot in the World Championship, which will take place in Detroit, Michigan on April 25-28, 2018.
“It is truly inspiring to see the ingenuity and the energy deployed by the participants to build these impressive robots,” said Pierre Beaudoin, Chairman of the Board, Bombardier Inc. “The Robotics Festival is a great opportunity to encourage the next generation of innovators to persevere in their studies. Bombardier is very proud to help them develop the skills that will give them access to thrilling careers in science, technology and engineering in a few years.”
The Montréal Robotics Festival is taking is taking place from March 1-3 at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard in Montréal. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, go to http://festivalderobotique.ca/.
